Warhol on Your MacBook

Tuesday, September 6th, 2011

Long long before there was Lady Gaga and the ever enigmatic Kanye, there was Andy Warhol. This dude was the weirdest of the weird and created some of the most inspired art the world has ever seen.

Now one of the greatest artists is alive and well on your iPhone, iPad, or MacBook. Before you run out and throw money at these cases, sleeves, or bags, know that you are paying for high art and with that comes a price. It’s not going to be cheap, but as with all art, it’s all about making a statement.

We love making a statement at ChivCulture.com so we might have to pick one up ourselves. Nothing beats the original, but then again, Warhol couldn’t do half the things our iPads can.

The Revisit of the UFO

Monday, September 5th, 2011

UFOs pique the mind’s interest. Whether you are into hip hop, fashion, or football, there is no doubt that the idea of life elsewhere trips you out. Now, movies have a done a good job of taking the idea of UFOs to a whole other level, but now the book that was the quintessential guide to UFOs is being reintroduced.

Alan Hendry’s UFO handbook is slimmed down, trimmed up, and ready to give you the lowdown on every flying object that you can’t quite make out.

Are UFOs real? We here a ChivCulture.com can’t say for sure, but we’re for anything that’s going to fascinate and make you think. If it’s expanding your imagination, then we can get behind that.

The Steel Resolve of a TiGR

Wednesday, August 31st, 2011

We’ve thrown more than a few bikes at you on the ChivCulture.com blog, so it’s about time we hit you with a way to protect these lean and mean riding machines. The TiGR Titanium Bike Lock is top notch in every way. In a word, this bike lock is fierce.

Now, you can YouTube a whole host of videos that boast the wonders of these locks. They are slim, stylish and easy to store. They say the best ideas are those that are simple and this is no different. When this invention was submitted for a modest asking price, the good people at Kickstarter paid a much prettier penny. Forget the lock you got and grab this one if you’ve got a bike worth hanging on to.

How DJs Went Digital

Wednesday, August 24th, 2011

The game changed a long time ago for DJs. Vinyl went the way of the eight-track and cassette tapes. What was once cool to do as a DJ is no longer. That why we here at ChivCulture.com love the multi-touch professional DJ system.

The days of ripping up vinyl to produce a killer beat is past us, but this multi-touch system is the closest thing DJs have to the way things used to be. This is a fully customizable table that allows you to construct the way you lay your system in any way that you see fit. Now the control that DJs lost is back in the fold, and it should give you a chance to raise your game. If you’ve got the money, then pony up and get to spinning.

Dri Dri Takes Art To A Different Level

Thursday, August 18th, 2011

Dri Dri, the Gelato company, found a way to change up business. In front of a London hotel they decided to make a pop up store. They used the walls behind them to create a scene giving the impression when you visit that you are picking up gelato while on vacation.

The set-up was that of an Italian beach. Let’s face it, if you are getting gelato then you are going to want to do it on an Italian beach. This is why art can’t be underestimated. With the right vision you can do anything. We here at ChivCulture.com applaud that kind of genius and if we are ever in London, you can bet we’ll look forward to getting gelato on the Italian beach, right in the heart of London.

The Faces of User Interface

Wednesday, August 10th, 2011

We know that the main purpose of technology is to make our lives better, right? Washers, dryers, fuel efficient cars—they’re all there so that everything is easier on us. Sometimes, though, technology is there to bring us to a higher level of thinking and to bring beauty front and center to our lives. That’s exactly what’s happening as Oxfam brings the whole company together on the IPAD.

The label reads “Oxfam is all about you. Your sensitivity, your eyes, your needs, your future, your thoughts, your fact. “ And on the interface are the faces of Oxfam employees. I’ve seen a lot of cool things but this is right up there. What a beautiful way to meld art and technology. Yeah, we all love the graffiti background on your Gmail, or the seashells on the desktop, but there is nothing like an app that uses the unique physical makeup of the people around you to create your environment and your portal to productivity.

We here at ChivCulture.com are all about what the Oxfam people are doing. We understand the distance between art and business doesn’t have to be that far apart. Everything we design is done with an artistic eye. It’s one thing to want to move products but if we aren’t bringing you something that’s going to sizzle and make you feel good about what you’re buying, then we don’t feel we are doing our job. So a big shout out for Oxfam for making the way their employees look at an IPAD truly unique.

Bringing the iPad Into the World of High Art

Tuesday, August 9th, 2011

If you thought that the iPad was just about playing Angry Birds, you just haven’t been expanding your mind to the possibilities. Jean Maxime Brais gets it. He’s been taking his iPad to the next level artistically. He decided to use it as a canvas for his artistic expressions. It’s the marriage of new school technology and old school artistic inspiration.

Mr. Brais’s artistic inspiration comes a bit from his savvy background. He’s been working in art development and marketing for years, so rather than looking at the screen of an iPad and thinking about the next email he’s going to send, he’s thinking about how he can bring art to the average user. His artistic expressions are giving life to this already intense technological advance.

So why does all this matter to you? Because you, just like us at ChivCulture.com, care about bringing fresh and unique perspective on old school creations. Plus, it’s just about the coolest thing we’ve ever seen. Brais can take the same pad you’re playing Words with Friends on and create something you couldn’t create with your best crayons and all the pages your notebook has in it.

Rest assured that what you are seeing isn’t just the hottest thing in the world of art, but it’s the future of art and technology. Pretty soon art will be all over the digital medium. It’s going to make the paintbrush and the canvas look as ancient as the pen and paper. Innovation is happening. Sit back, relax and be amazed. Things are going to get really cool.

The Nexus S is a brilliant piece of design and business as well. The Google corporation has been more than giving with their Android technology, giving it to companies on a first-come, first-serve basis. While this seemed like a good idea at the time, the truth is not everyone makes a great phone. Well, Google came to the rescue. It’s an Android phone made by the company that invented the most popular phone technology on the planet.

The Nexus S is the full complement of Android as well as the best touch screen anywhere in the world. Google went to painstaking efforts to get rid of everything that has bothered cell phone users about other Android phones and has perfected their Nexus. It’s the kind of phone that makes you remember just why you can’t say no to Google.

The Full Book on the Playbook

Monday, June 20th, 2011

The iPad better watch out because it has met some serious competition in the tablet PC market. It’s Blackberry’s Playbook.  Just as everyone thought that RIM technology was on its way out, it’s fought its way back with a piece of technology so sleek and so ahead of the curve that even Apple is shaking their head wondering how it let RIM make such a comeback this late in the game.

Blackberry Playbook Review

The Playbook looks like your average PC tablet, but it’s deceptive like a souped-up Ford Escort with a V-8 engine. The Playbook is one fast machine that can do a lot more than any of its competitors. The RIM technology knew exactly what businesses were looking for: fast, powerful and secure technology all in the same basket.

The Playbook is effective at getting things done. It’s the way Blackberry has always sold itself. Its multi-tasking ability takes a backseat to no one and it’s the reason that businesses, as well as those of us who love Chivalrous Culture and ChivCulture.com like it so much. We understand the need to marry the powerful with the sleek and fashionable. There’s no reason why being effective means you can’t look good too.

Don’t be fooled by the bright lights and imitators on the market. There is only one tablet PC that delivers continuously. It’s worth checking out if you are into a tablet that really does what you want it to: work. Just like your fashion sense.

The Camera that Does It All

Friday, June 17th, 2011

We here at ChivCulture.com believe you should be informed when the latest and greatest gadgets come out on the market. Why spend your money on the second best of anything? That’s why we have you covered when it comes to the digital photography market. It’s the Leica V-LUX 30. It’s everything you love about a camera and then some.

The V-LUX 30 solves the problem of the camera that takes great pictures but is a pain to lug around. This camera is sporting a 15.1 MP range with a 16x zoom lens. The size of the camera that houses this kind of power and precision is small enough that you can put it in your front pocket. It’s come a long way from the days of bulking SLR cameras that you put you in traction from lugging it around your neck as you stroll down the street.

If that weren’t enough you have the added feature of it being a great video recorder. Let’s face it, these days having a great camera that takes great video is a rare combination, and it’s not a cheap fix either. You spend your money on a big camera or you have to buy two. This shoots pictures as well as taking awesome video. And you remember how small it is, don’t you?

I’m not certain there is a better camera on the market, or when there will be. All I know is that you don’t have to look for the next great camera. It’s all right here.
